Questions
What is an APN?
An APN (assessor’s parcel number) is the ID the county gives each parcel. Searching it on the county record shows the parcel’s location, size and owner of record.
My county isn’t listed. How do I find its records?
Search for your county name plus "property appraiser" or "tax assessor". Use the county’s own site, or the record service it links to, rather than a third-party lookup.
Why might the owner on the record differ from the seller?
The seller may hold land through a company, the county may not have updated after a recent sale, or the seller may have the parcel under contract with the right to sell. Ask the seller and confirm with the title company.
